Trayvon Martin – Black Mothers’ Sons

Civil rights leader Ella Baker’s haunting words from 1964 still ring with relevance in the time of Trayvon Martin.  Martin, 17 years old, was killed by a vigilante in 2012 as he walked home from a store.

“Until the killing of black men, black mother’s sons, becomes as important to the rest of the country as the killing of a white mother’s son. We who believe in freedom cannot rest until this happens.”
